Can You Eat Dried Fruit If You Have Diabetes?

Dried fruit may be a healthy, diverse component of a balanced diet for someone with diabetes. To avoid blood sugar spikes and benefit from

the potential positive effects that dried fruit may have on your overall health, experts advise being cautious of portion size and combining

them with a second source of protein, fat, or fiber.  Although dried fruits with naturally occurring sugars can be a part of a healthy diet, experts

on diabetes advise picking the ones with the least amount of sugar and the most fiber, such as apricots, dates, figs, and prunes. Dried fruit may

be a good alternative when planned and coupled properly with the aforementioned guidelines in a balanced diet,

even though fresh fruit is typically favored since it delivers more satiety due to higher fiber and a bigger portion.
